Quartzite is a variation of slate. Comparing to original slate tiles, quartzite tile is less stable in color but more consistent in thickness. Wherever the original slate tiles are suitable to use, the quartzite tile can be used. Although the top surface of quartzite is in general evener that the original slate floor tile, you still do not expect to see a smooth or completely flat surface like what's seen in granite or marble tiles. Quartzite tile is also more durable than original slate tile. White quartzite and green quartzite are the most popular quartzite colors.
